About Mazen
My work moves between power electronics, embedded systems, PCB design and the software needed to acquire and understand data.
How I came to work
across hardware and software
I'm an Electronics and Communications Engineering student at The American University in Cairo (GPA 3.7), double minoring in Computer Science and Mathematics, with an exchange year at the University of Calgary.
My work sits at the seam between hardware and software: PCB design in KiCad, full-custom CMOS in Cadence Virtuoso, embedded firmware on STM32 and PIC, alongside full-stack systems in FastAPI + React and .NET. I care most about quiet, correct engineering — things that don't draw attention to themselves because they work.
Where I'm heading is high-speed serial links and mixed-signal IC design. This fall I'm taking a graduate course in high-performance IC modeling, and my senior thesis in Spring 2027 is a MIPI M-PHY SerDes transceiver.
Seeking a Fall 2026 electronics / hardware engineering internship, and a thesis-based master's in high-speed serial links for Fall 2027.
